For Petroleum Engineer (ANZSCO 233612), Engineers Australia assesses your engineering qualification. If it is accredited under the Washington, Sydney or Dublin Accord (or otherwise recognised), assessment is by qualification. Otherwise, you demonstrate engineering competencies through a Competency Demonstration Report (CDR) comprising three career episodes, a summary statement and continuing professional development.

Do I need a CDR if my degree is accredited?

Generally no. If your qualification is accredited under the Washington, Sydney or Dublin Accord (or otherwise recognised by Engineers Australia), you can usually be assessed on the qualification pathway without a full CDR. If it is not recognised, the CDR pathway applies.

Can someone write my CDR for me?

No. A Competency Demonstration Report must be your own work. Engineers Australia actively checks for plagiarism and ghostwriting, and dishonest CDRs can result in refusal and a ban on reapplying. A migration agent can advise on the process, but the engineering content must be genuinely yours.

Which skilled visa uses this occupation?
