CPD for registered migration agents

If you are a registered migration agent who needs CPD points, this page is the map: what Widen CPD runs, who writes it, and where to book. Everything is OMARA-approved and delivered online — live workshops in real time, self-paced modules whenever suits.

The requirement itself is short: 10 points a year, a minimum of 5 from Category A live activities, and 1 point each on ethical standards and the Code of Conduct. Category A — live workshops

Conducted in real time with real-time discussion among participants. 1 point per hour of participation; each workshop is capped at 30 participants. Current program:

• Ethical Standards for Registered Migration Agents (mandatory topic)
• RMA Code of Conduct (mandatory topic)
• Subclass 482 Skills in Demand — Parts 1–3 (framework; sponsorship & nomination; visa application)
• Partner Visas: Structure and Framework — Part 1
• Subclass 407 Training Visa: Structure, Streams and Sponsorship

Most run as CPD weekend intensives — up to 9 Category A points across two days, both mandatory topics included.

Category B — self-paced modules with assessment

Private study with a 10-question assessment; 1 point per 1.5 hours of study. Study online, pass at 80%, and a dated certificate is issued and the completion reported to OMARA. Highlights:

• When OMARA Makes Contact — complaints, investigations and professional standards
• The 482 Nomination Preparation Series (DN637–DN639) — the genuine position statement, salary evidence & labour market testing, and consistency auditing, taught in lodgement order

Why currency is the whole point

Every module is verified against the current Federal Register compilation before delivery, and the verification date appears on the certificate. That matters more than usual right now: two of the instruments underpinning 482 nomination work were amended twice between March and July 2026, and professional commentary was split on the current income thresholds for part of that period. CPD written a year ago — or generated from a stale corpus — teaches the wrong numbers. Ours states the compilation date it was checked against, on the certificate you keep.

Who delivers it

Keshab Chapagain (MARN 1576536), a registered migration agent since 2015, holds the Graduate Diploma of Australian Migration Law and Practice and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. The 482 series is written from the same workflow he uses preparing nomination documentation for fellow agents as documents-only, white-label work — the file as it is actually built.
