Second opinion · Extended consultation

A second opinion on your migration advice

Another agent has given you a plan, a quote or a “no”. A lawyer says one thing and a friend another. You are about to lodge yourself and want someone to check it first. A second opinion is an extended consultation on your actual file, with the answer in writing, from the agent who writes the CPD other agents sit. If your current agent’s plan is sound, you will be told exactly that.

Book the second opinion: 60 minutes on your file, answer in writing.

Book the extended consultation, then upload the advice, quote or application you want reviewed. Keshab reads it before the session, so the hour is spent on the decision, not on reading. The fee is credited if you move the matter to WIDEN; there is no obligation to.

What it costs. $550 inc. GST for 60 minutes by video with Keshab Chapagain (MARN 1576536), credited in full against our professional fee if you engage WIDEN. Advice confirmed in writing after the call. There is no free consultation or free assessment.

When a second opinion is worth it

  • You have been quoted a fee or a pathway that does not sit right: a visa you have not heard of, a timeline that seems long, a price far above or below others.
  • You have been told no, and want to know whether that is the law or one agent’s appetite.
  • You plan to lodge yourself and want the application checked for the errors that cause refusals: occupation and list fit, evidence gaps, timing against a visa end date.
  • An application is already lodged and you want an independent read of where it stands and what, if anything, can still be done. See second opinion on a lodged application.
  • Family members, a refusal in the history, or more than one pathway are in play and the advice so far has covered only one piece.

What you get

  • Your documents and the advice you were given are read before the session.
  • Sixty minutes by video with Keshab Chapagain, MARN 1576536, registered since 2015.
  • A straight answer: the advice is sound, the advice is wrong on these points, or there is a better route and here it is, with the fees and government charges for each.
  • The answer in writing after the session, which you can take back to your current agent or act on yourself.

What to upload after booking

  • The advice, quote, costs agreement or draft application you want reviewed.
  • Passport bio page, current visa grant notice, and any Department letters.
  • CV, qualifications, skills assessment and English results if they exist.
  • For employer matters: the position description and anything the employer has sent.

What it costs

$550 inc. GST for the extended consultation, paid by card when you book and refundable up to two days before. If you then engage WIDEN for the matter, the $550 is credited against the engagement fee. If you stay with your current agent, you leave with the written answer and owe nothing more. Government charges are separate and are never part of a WIDEN fee; see what WIDEN charges.

What it is not

A second opinion is not a guarantee and not a promise of a better outcome: section 15 of the Migration Agents Code of Conduct forbids both. It is also not a way to run two agents on one application at once. If you decide to move the matter, the handover is done properly, with your current agent notified and any Form 956 updated.

General information only, current at October 2026; not advice on your own case. Outcomes depend on the Department’s assessment of each application; no registered migration agent can guarantee a result (Code of Conduct, Migration Agents Regulations). Keshab Chapagain, MARN 1576536.

Not sure which visa fits you?

Questions we get asked first

Can I get a second opinion while another agent is handling my case?

Yes. The review is independent and confidential, and you decide what to do with it. If you move the matter, the handover is done properly, with your current agent notified.

Will you just tell me my agent is wrong so I switch?

No. If the plan you have is sound, you are told so in writing. The fee buys an honest read, not a sales pitch.

How much does a second opinion cost?

$550 inc. GST for the extended 60-minute consultation, credited if you engage WIDEN afterwards.

Can you review an application I have already lodged?

Yes. An independent read of a pending file is one of the common uses; what can still be done depends on the stage it has reached.

Do I have to upload documents before booking?

No. Book first, then upload. The documents are read before the session.
