The skills assessment & RPL pathway for Midwife
For a Midwife (ANZSCO 254111), ANMAC conducts the migration skills assessment based on your midwifery qualification, registration and, for some applicants, English and employment. This is not VET RPL.
Registration to practise as a midwife is a separate requirement through AHPRA/NMBA and may involve an approved-qualification or outcomes-based pathway with possible bridging. Because midwifery qualifications and registration differ across countries, plan the assessment and registration steps carefully and, where possible, together.

Experienced workers can have overseas or on-the-job work assessed by a Registered Training Organisation toward the Australian qualification for the occupation (Recognition of Prior Learning) — useful only when it lines up with the skills assessment above and the visa. Is Midwife assessed as a nurse?
Midwife (ANZSCO 254111) is a distinct occupation from registered nursing, though ANMAC assesses both. If you are dual-qualified in nursing and midwifery, nominate the occupation that matches your qualification, registration and the role you intend to fill, and evidence it clearly.
Can I migrate as a midwife without Australian registration first?
The ANMAC skills assessment can proceed on your overseas qualification and registration, but to practise you will need AHPRA/NMBA registration, which is separate and may require bridging. Start both early, as registration can be the longer step.
