The skills assessment & RPL pathway for Fitter (General)

For a Fitter (General) (ANZSCO 323211), TRA carries out the migration skills assessment via the Offshore Skills Assessment Program or the onshore Job Ready Program. TRA generally looks for a qualification comparable to a Certificate III in Engineering — Mechanical Trade and current, verifiable mechanical fitting experience.

Distinguish the qualification from the migration assessment. An RPL qualification through an RTO recognises existing skills, while the TRA migration skills assessment separately evaluates your skills and employment for visa purposes. Fitter is not a licensed occupation, so there is generally no occupational licence to obtain.
