IELTS vs PTE Academic
Both are fully accepted for Australian visas at equivalent score bands — the Department does not prefer either. Choose by test-taking style: PTE is computer-scored, faster to results, and many candidates find its speaking section more forgiving; IELTS offers a human speaking interview and a paper option. If you have plateaued in one, switching tests is a legitimate and common strategy.

Which side of that line you fall on depends on facts a table cannot hold — your age, score, occupation's lists, and what evidence you can actually assemble. That is consultation territory, not guesswork territory.
