IELTS Academic vs IELTS General Training
For the visa itself the Department accepts either module at the same band scores, so General Training, with its everyday reading and writing tasks, is the one most migration applicants find easier. The Academic module is required by the bodies that sit beside the visa: most skills assessing authorities for health, teaching, accounting and some engineering occupations, and the professional registration boards, specify Academic. If your occupation needs an assessment or registration that asks for Academic, sit Academic once and use it for both; if it does not, sit General Training.

The honest verdict

Which side of that line you fall on depends on facts a table cannot hold — your age, score, occupation's lists, and what evidence you can actually assemble. That is consultation territory, not guesswork territory.
