Add the newborn to the pending application vs A separate application for the child
A child born in Australia to a parent who holds a visa is taken to hold that visa from birth, and a child born while the parent’s application is pending is added to it by notifying the Department with the birth certificate, which for most visas brings the child into the application without a further charge and without restarting it; a child born outside Australia is added the same way where the visa allows members of the family unit to be added before decision. A separate application for the child is the route only where the parent’s visa has already been granted and the visa does not allow a later addition, in which case the child applies for the child visa or as a subsequent entrant. Notify the birth within the period the Department expects; a child missing from the application at grant is a child without a visa.

Which side of that line you fall on depends on facts a table cannot hold — your age, score, occupation's lists, and what evidence you can actually assemble. That is consultation territory, not guesswork territory.
