407 Training vs 485 Temporary Graduate
A graduate of an Australian course who meets the 485 criteria takes the 485: unrestricted work for any employer for eighteen months to several years by stream, no sponsor, no training plan, and time to build the next application. A person who does not qualify for the 485, through the age limit, the timing, the course or the English, or who has qualified overseas and wants structured workplace training here, looks at the 407: up to two years of occupational training under a plan with an approved sponsor, work limited to the training, and no path of its own. The 485 is the graduate’s visa; the 407 is the trainee’s, and the 407 is sometimes the route for a 485 holder whose profession needs supervised practice.

The honest verdict

Which side of that line you fall on depends on facts a table cannot hold — your age, score, occupation's lists, and what evidence you can actually assemble. That is consultation territory, not guesswork territory.
