482 salary checker
Enter the annual salary (excluding super) and see where the offer lands against the 2026–27 thresholds — and what the market-rate rule adds on top.
The three lines that matter
- CSIT — A$79,423: the floor for a Core Skills stream nomination (occupation must be on the CSOL).
- Market rate: the nomination must also match what an Australian worker earns in that role and place — the rule that fails "CSIT-exactly" offers in high-paying occupations. How AMSR evidence works →
- SSIT — A$146,576: at or above it, the Specialist Skills stream opens — no occupation list (trades/machinery excepted).
Frequently asked questions
What salary do I need to be sponsored on a 482 in 2026?
The nomination must meet the Core Skills Income Threshold — A$79,423 for nominations from 1 July 2026 — OR the annual market salary rate for that role in that location, whichever is higher. Meeting the CSIT alone is not enough if local workers in the same job earn more.
What is the Specialist Skills stream salary?
A$146,576. At or above it, the nomination can use the Specialist Skills stream — no occupation list applies (trades and machinery operators excepted), which matters when an occupation is missing from the CSOL.
Does superannuation count toward the threshold?
No — the thresholds are assessed against annual earnings excluding superannuation (guaranteed earnings in the employment contract). Allowances only count in limited, guaranteed forms.
What if the salary is below the CSIT?
The standard 482 nomination fails. The honest alternatives: negotiate the package up, look at a DAMA (some agreements carry salary concessions for listed occupations), or reassess the occupation and location against the market-rate evidence.
Check your case
The threshold is the easy part; market-rate evidence, genuine-position and the occupation's caveats are where nominations actually fail. Tell us the role and salary.
