Scaffolding, not supervision
Templates and SOPs are a scaffold. Code compliance — and the professional judgment your practice requires — remains your personal responsibility as a registered migration agent. The Pack is sold agent-to-agent; it does not create a supervisory, chambers, or legal-advice relationship with WIDEN.

What's inside (planned)
- Service agreement template (s 42). A baseline written service agreement template covering scope, fees and disbursements, retainer arrangements, the Consumer Guide, complaints, termination, and the relationship-of-the-parties clauses the Code requires.
- Initial consultation framework (s 43). Intake form, consultation checklist, post-consultation file note template, and the fee-quote framework.
- Fee disclosure schedule. Fixed-fee, time-cost and milestone-fee variants, with the disclosure requirements built in.
- Conflict-of-interest check. A workable conflict-check protocol for small practices, with the file-opening form that runs it.
- Client file structure. A defensible folder structure (digital and physical), retention schedule, and access-control framework aligned to s 35 (privacy) and the recordkeeping obligation.
- Trust account / disbursements protocol. The accounting and reconciliation framework for client funds held on account for disbursements (Department charges, biometrics, translations, etc.).
- Complaints handling. A documented complaints process aligned with the Code's requirements and the OMARA complaints pathway.
- CPD tracking and supervision log. A working spreadsheet for tracking CPD points and (where applicable) supervised-RMA hours.
- Code 2022 self-audit. A quarterly self-audit against the Code, designed to identify gaps before they become OMARA matters.
- Subcontracting and referral protocols (s 32, s 35). Protocols for engaging another RMA on a file, including the disclosure framework where benefits are received from a third party.
Who this is for
- Newly registered migration agents setting up sole or small-practice operations
- RMAs returning to private practice after time in-house or in government
- Small practices wanting a fresh review of their systems against the Code 2022
Who this is not for
- Substitute for the OMARA Code itself. Read the Code direct — the Pack is operational scaffolding, not a paraphrase of the Code.
- Substitute for professional indemnity advice. PI insurance arrangements should be discussed with your insurer.
- Substitute for legal or tax advice on practice structure. Sole trader vs company vs partnership, GST registration, etc., are matters for an accountant and lawyer.
- Established large firms with mature systems. The Pack is a starting set; large firms typically have these built already.

Frequently asked questions
Who is this Pack for?
Newly registered migration agents setting up practice, RMAs returning to private practice after time in-house or in government, and small practices wanting to review their existing systems against the Code 2022 requirements. Established large firms will mostly have these systems already.
Are the templates compliant with the Code of Conduct 2022?
The templates reflect the published requirements of the Migration Agents Code of Conduct 2022 — written service agreements (s 42), the initial consultation framework (s 43), client file management, conflict checks, fee disclosure, the OMARA Consumer Guide requirement, the complaints process, and recordkeeping. Compliance with the Code remains the registered migration agent's personal responsibility — using these templates does not by itself discharge any obligation under the Code.
Does the Pack tell me how to run my practice?
No. The Pack is a starting set of templates and procedural documents. How you actually run your practice — your supervision, client communication, file review cadence, professional development, conflict checking — is a matter for your professional judgment and your own practice. Templates are a scaffold, not a substitute.
Does buying the Pack mean WIDEN is supervising my practice or providing legal advice?
No. The Pack is general information / template material. It does not create a supervisory relationship, a barrister-style chambers relationship, or any form of agent-to-agent legal advice arrangement. Each RMA who purchases the Pack remains personally responsible for their own practice under the Code.
When does the first edition ship?
The first edition is in preparation. Submitting the form below subscribes you to a one-off launch email. You will not be charged at signup.
